LOA Toolkit: Paying for Benefits During Leave

Benefits eligibility will depend on the type of leave approved. If paid by Aerospace (sick or vacation), premiums will be deducted from normal weekly pay.  If not paid by Aerospace, premiums will be billed by the Aerospace Employee  Benefits Center.

FMLA with Aerospace Compensation
During FMLA (*SDI, **STD, Workers’ Compensation) the cost of your benefits is deducted from your paycheck. If FMLA ends, but leave continues, benefit deduction continues for up to 14 additional weeks. Thereafter, medical can continue if you agree to pay your cost monthly. Dental and vision benefits can continue through COBRA for up to 18 months.  Family and Medical Leave of Absence Policy

FMLA without Aerospace Compensation
During FMLA (Bonding, Family Care, Military Caregiver or Military Exigency Leave) benefits may continue for up to 90 days.  Family and Medical Leave of Absence Policy

Workers Compensation with Aerospace Compensation 
The cost of benefits is deducted. When FMLA ends, but leave continues, deductions continue for up to 14 additional weeks. Thereafter, medical can continue if an employee agrees to pay the monthly cost sharing. Paid Parental Leave (PPL) with Aerospace Compensation 
Aerospace will maintain all benefits during the paid parental leave period as if you were taking any other company-paid leave, such as short-term disability or paid time off. Benefit payments will be deducted via Payroll. You will continue to accrue vacation benefits on all parental leave hours paid. If a company holiday occurs while you are on paid Parental Leave, such day will be charged to holiday pay.  Family and Medical Leave of Absence Policy

MRL without Aerospace Compensation 
Benefits may continue for 180 days from MRL date. The cost of benefits is deducted from supplemental pay. Thereafter, benefits can continue through COBRA for up to 18 months.   Military Reserve Active Duty Policy

SDI/STD with Aerospace Compensation
The cost of benefits is deducted from pay during SDI/STD. When FMLA ends, but leave continues, the deduction will continue for up to 14 additional weeks. Medical may continue thereafter provided monthly premiums are paid.   Dental and Vision benefits can continue through COBRA for up to 18 months.
Family and Medical Leaves of Absence Policy 

Personal Leave of Absence without Aerospace Compensation
